What is H4 Visa?
Spouse and unmarried children( below 21 years of age )
of H-1, H-2 or H-3 visa holders who wish to visit the
principal visa holder in the U.S. A person on an H4
status is not allowed to work unless and until the
person gets a Change of Status from the INS from H4 to
any work related visa (eg: H1B) status.
Documents Required to get the H4 Visa:
- A valid passport (meaning valid for at least the next
6 months) for each person applying for a visa.
Original Marriage certificate.
- Marriage Photos.All the snaps must be very clear and
easy to identify both the bride, and the bridegroom.
Photographs showing some marriage rituals are must.
Date of birth certificates for childen ( below 21
years of age )
- Good quality photo copies or originals of your
spouse's visa papers and passport.
- The latest employment service letter from the spouse's
employer.
- The Affidavit Of Support, Form I-134, that has been
signed by your spouse.
- Application for a visa, Form OF-156.
Male applicant age between 16-45, also provide form
(DS157)
- Two recent photograph (taken within the past 6 months.
Size: 2x2 inches or 50x50 mm) for each person applying
for a visa.
- Fees: All fees must be paid by demand draft only,
payable to the relevant American Consulate General.
Separate demand drafts are necessary for the
application and issuance fees. Your name and passport
number must be included on the reverse of the demand
draft. Demand drafts without this information will not
be accepted.
Please Note: These are general guidelines. Your
personal situation may vary. The US officials may
require additional information or documents such as
marriage certificate if necessary.
